A large number of BharatPe’s merchants leave their daily earnings idle in their settlement accounts. The challenge was to enable daily investments for small and mid sized shop owners, many unfamiliar with digital finance, without changing their regular habits or needing to understand how investing works.

The Solution
The Solution
To make investing simple and safe for merchants, BharatPe introduced Daily Gold SIP, a new feature inside the merchant app. It allowed eligible users to invest small amounts in digital gold every day, with the money automatically deducted from their settlement balance. The process was low-risk, fully automatic, and worked quietly in the background without interrupting their daily routine.
We had a good understanding of BharatPe’s merchants, primarily small shop owners, kirana store operators, and street vendors across India. So I focused on building quick prototypes for different flows and testing them with the merchants.
Most early concepts didn’t make it past testing. We iterated quickly, trying out different ideas to see what worked best. This process helped us understand what merchants truly needed and strip away anything unnecessary. In the end, we arrived at a simple, trustworthy investment journey that fit naturally into their daily routine.

One Click SIP Setup
One Click SIP Setup
I designed the SIP setup flow to be as effortless as possible. Popular amounts were pre-filled to guide choices, while the input stayed flexible for merchants who preferred to enter their own.
We added a confirmation step showing a clear summary of the SIP (amount, start date, and frequency) along with a note that the amount would be auto-deducted from the merchant’s settlement account. This not only built trust and transparency, but also helped prevent accidental setups

We saw an opportunity to simplify it all by using the existing settlement account and making the entire setup feel as easy as accepting a payment.
